Beauty is “pleasing quality as in looks, sounds, etc.” Outer beauty is seen in Man, ornaments, arts, constructions and in various and different things and places. However, outer beauty does not endure forever; beautiful faces and bodies wither, great structures are destructible, green forests are exposed to fire and so on. Beauty under the senses is corruptible, fades, perishes and vanishes. Outward appearance and outer beauty count much but they are not the aim.

In the meantime, inner beauty takes man to another place; it moves him to spirituality. It is shown through brave calmness, speech, behavior, nobleness, morals and deeds. As a simple example, money is a big means to bring unlimited beautiful things, but it gives and pours heartily spiritual happiness when it is used for the service of others. Inner beauty is rooted in the heart, mind and soul of the believer.

Beautiful characters, manners and actions are as well as good characters, manners and actions. Man’s beauty is in his godliness, holiness, morality, brightness and heartily peace. Inner beauty is goodness, righteousness, blessed life and spiritual motives, energy and strength.

Man’s good life should not be consumed in outer beauty, as it does not come from outward adornments, fine clothes and jewelry. When we say inner beauty, we think of the reverence and purity of life. In addition, we think of the quietness and gentleness of the spirit. Paul said, “The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control…” (Gal.5:22) In addition, he advised that the people who are spiritual to “restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness…” (Gal. 6:1) Moreover, Jesus said, “Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth”. (Matt. 5:5) Those who are upright, meek, merciful, humble, gentle and quiet in spirit rejoice in the Lord. They have mildness of temper, far from bad anger, aggression, turbulence and agitation. In deepness, meekness is also willingness to surrender with love and compassion to God and serve Him in others. Such characters are precious in the sight of the Lord. Peter said, “It should be that of your inner self unfading beauty of a gentle and a quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” (1 Pet. 3:4) Inner beauty is worshipping God in holiness, singing to Him, praising Him, bringing offerings before Him and giving Him thanks for His love endures forever. “God looks at the heart” (1 Sam 16:7) and not at the outward appearance; therefore the believers are to “put on the whole armor of God.” (Eph.6:11) and “the garment of praise”. (Is. 61:3) Inner beauty is not wearing the masks of deceit and hypocrisy. It is the new creation, new self, resembling God in righteousness, purity and holiness. The believer is to “put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him”, as Paul said. (Col. 3:8-10) In addition, to be “endued with power from on high” as Jesus promised. (Luke 24:49) Moreover, “to be holy in all ‘his’ conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy’,” as Peter said (1 pet. 1:15,16) Inner beauty does not wrinkle, never becomes old, useless, corruptible or destructible. It is not something purchased or made. It never fades or perishes. It keeps its brightness and newness. It diffuses nice odor. It is important in God’s eye. It is a result of the function of the grace of Jesus Christ in the heart; so that the faithful comes into the way, the truth and the life. Inner beauty endures as long as there is life while hypocritical actions and discipline have an end. Inner beauty is the repair of the breakdown of sin in life. It is a sign and an effect of the victory of life over sin and death. It shows the fullness of Christ. It is the ground for the culture of the good mutual understanding among the humans. It is to love others even when they are wrong and to hold them especially when they are scared. It is the zeal to do good righteous works.

Those who have no fellowship with God, desperate from His mercy, selfish, proud, harmful, jealous, spiteful, unjust, unrighteous, not thankful, dark in mind, wicked in heart, cause slander and divisions, make troubles and depend on their wealth have no inner beauty. In the same time, those whose inside is beautiful seek the privileges given by Christ. They are holy in manners, their conversion is to Christ, their submission is to His will, and their preference and choice are the ornaments of the heart, mind and soul. “Their heart will rejoice, and ‘their’ joy no one will take from ‘them’”. (John 16:12) Jesus declared.

Dear friends; The ornaments of the soul are meekness, gentleness and quietness. They never fade. Inner beauty is the flourishing garden with the fruitful trees of holiness, godliness, goodness, righteousness, faithfulness, truthfulness, purity, love, virtue, morality, forgiveness, meekness, gentleness, humbleness, mercy, peace, courage, sincerity, straightness, wisdom, joy and life. The full and utmost beauty is to know God first and the self, second and to love others, sacrifice for them and respect them. “Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.”(Ps. 29:2) Amen
